Organic farming has been controversial for years, but this new report from the U.N. shows that adopting a more sustainable model of agriculture may be the only thing that can save our planet from famine and ultimate destruction.
One of the main objections to organic farming is that “we can’t feed the world that way.” But more and more evidence shows that the truth may be just the opposite.
In fact, organic agriculture on a widespread scale may be the answer to the environmental destruction and negative health consequences we are seeing today after several decades of the industrial farming experiment.
This report from the U.N. states that we need “a rapid and significant shift from conventional, monoculture-based and high-external-input-dependent industrial production toward mosaics of sustainable, regenerative production systems.”
