While buying a new electric car can seem like a great way to reduce your carbon footprint, there are a few considerations to take into account first. This podcast explains.

If you drive an older vehicle that doesn’t have great fuel efficiency, you may have considered trading it in for one of the new all-electric models. After all, this will save on fuel costs, and it’s also a lot better for the environment, right?

The truth is a bit more complicated, however, and there are other factors you will need to consider in order to make the best decision – for yourself and the environment.

For example, where does the electricity come from that you will use to charge your electric car? If electricity in your area is mainly coal-sourced, you may be surprised to learn that driving an electric car could actually be worse for the environment than a conventional gasoline-powered vehicle!
